What is an industry association?
An Industry Association is a formal membership grouping of companies or individuals with a common interest in an industrial sector, formed to provide an interface between its members and (a) government (policy makers, regulators etc) and (b) customers including the public. Industry Associations are usually formed when a new industrial sector emerges or when new conditions develop which require a co-ordinated response from industry. The larger companies in the sector usually lead the formation of an Industry Association.
An Industry Association is normally not for profit but may generate income from associated activities.
