Clinical trials involving: those who live in regions not usually included in clinical development programs, and whose infrastructure may not support our “usual” practices those who are pregnant pregnant partners of male triallists those who are lactating neonates and premature babies the elderly those who have a rare disease

Why does this matter?

Distributional justice The risks and burdens of participating in research should be borne by all in society, or by that part which will benefit from the research 1 Clinical Practice How does a prescribing physician know which dose to give to the patient if the patient does not belong to a group which has been studied? Social Justice Including underserved populations in research will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from medical advancements.
