The COVID-19 pandemic more than anything demonstrated this need and the speed at which the regulatory community responded and delivered support to a wide range public health initiatives was exemplary – from vaccine trials to increasing ventilator supplies. A brave newworld The pace of technological advancement is exponential. As individuals, social media has extended our networks from local to global; the internet and digitalisation has made immediate access to the most up-to- date information routine; advances in healthcare technologies andmedical research have saved lives andmet formerly unmet health needs. Our expectations have also been raised – the pressure is on to deliver innovative medicines and treatments safely and effectively as soon as possible.
