TOPRA 2025

A sustainable approach TOPRA takes a ‘whole company approach’ to sustainable development, which includes a staff working group that feeds into making: • Informed decisions that take account of potential environmental, social and business impacts • Prudent choices of natural resources that prevent pollution where possible. From relatively small decisions, such as replacing plastic milk bottles with re-usable glass bottles, to more significant ones that affect the running of the business itself by introducing more ‘paperless’ processes, TOPRA is moving to becoming a greener andmore resilient organisation. A good example of the latter was the early introduction of an online invoice approval system, which was part of our long-term plan to automate our business processes. Investing in training TOPRA is run by practising regulatory professionals for regulatory professionals – from the Board’s strategic leadership and oversight to all the groups of volunteers who input into all the educational, networking and information resources. In order to support our volunteers TOPRA provides governance training for the Board and hosts an annual development day for volunteer community andmember network leaders.

through consideration of potential environmental impacts and adopting a sustainable mindset when making business decisions. Governance TOPRA is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Efficient and effective management involves clearly defined Board, executive and operational roles and responsibilities; measuring and monitoring performance against strategic objectives – checking that targets remain relevant; and ensuring the governance framework remains fit for purpose. Best standards of practice As a membership organisation offering high-quality services to its members, TOPRA is an active participant in relevant bodies such as: • The Profession Associations Research Network (PARN) • The Institution of Association Leadership. Such networks provide excellent opportunities to share best practice and thus make improvements to our processes. They also provide useful contacts for legal and strategic advice. TOPRA regularly benchmarks against PARN data, particularly financial metrics. Actively safeguarding the resilience of our not-for- profit organisation through prudent guardianship of our resources.
