FACTORS OF INFLUENCE

INFLUENCE You would use influencing skills with another party when you want them to: • buy into/commit to your idea/proposal • change their view/behaviour/ position/opinion/attitude • help/support you/do something for you • agree, say “yes” to your proposal

NEGOTIATION You would use negotiation skills when: • You and they have something to offer one another • You and they can and want to trade/reach a deal • You and they want to move towards an agreement and work together on a common goal
