Tablets – most common dosage form

Advantages ● Generally stable compared to liquid forms ● Preparation ensures accurate dosing ● Convenient to handle, robust ● Can be mass-produced, cheaply, efficiently with high quality and reproducibility (up to 500K per hour)

Disadvantage ● Many drugs (eg, biologics) not suited to oral delivery ● Need for disintegration and reproducible dissolution to achieve therapeutic effect
